The Language Center of the National University of Colombia, Medellin Campus, is an academic unit affiliated with the campus' Vice-Rectorate. It offers foreign language training programs to facilitate language learning for the university community and the general public. At the same time, it offers Spanish language programs for non-Spanish speakers from other parts of the world that are interested in learning Spanish. Its high-quality standards of education, which are framed by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), take into account the students’ intercultural necessities and expectations for the acquisition of linguistic and sociolinguistic competences.

This program is intended for non-Spanish speakers that have contact with the academic community such as visiting professors, assistant professors from other countries, grantees, interns, foreign master's and doctoral students, undergraduate students and students in study abroad and language-learning programs from foreign universities which have established agreements with our institution; and they are also intended for the interested public of the city of Medellín.

This distribution of time includes the hours of independent project work under the supervision of the instructor. This independent work aims to exercise the abilities acquired by the students and to develop strategies of independent learning.

The average class size fluctuates between ten and fifteen students. This intimate class size guarantees individualized attention and stimulates not only the development of linguistic abilities and knowledge, but also the constant interaction among students and instructors.
